It's been one of those unreal days. I've got a major bank who insists that we just do business on a verbal agreement, the telephone equivalent of a handshake, and I've been dealing with that all day. Who hears of such a thing? Crazy I tell you.
So in between phone calls to this bank I caught bits of stuff on the news about global warming. It's just as strange as dealing with this bank. You have to figure that, at some point, people are going to wake up and figure it out. Even if the average Joe didn't figure it out on his own, which he certainly should have been able to do by now, the eggheads should have set everyone straight. But it just doesn't happen. People continue to get caught up in the drama and throw their money at this problem, as if they could do anything about it.
The eggheads continue to stay quiet about the reality. The pseudo-scientists go on claiming that it's all our fault, especially anyone living in the U.S.A. and everyone climbs on that bandwagon. Then again those twits are getting all the funding so maybe that's what keeps the real eggheads quiet, nothing like a good "research" grant to keep the trap shut.
Other than from me, do you hear about the relationship of solar radiation, geomagnetic field and global warming? There are damn few of us who make any mention of it. I can't think of any professional scientist who brings it up. It's just not a popular topic at parties and could get a persons grant funding pulled. Wouldn't want that, now would we? So again with the cries that it's all our fault. Again with the plans and predictions for us to do something about it.
Fine, I'll play your silly game. Let's pretend that it is our fault. Even if you assume that's true, the problem has nothing to do with the types of fuels we use. Even if I play your silly little game, I have to draw the line right there.
In the game you play, the real culprit is consumption. Oh I know how good it makes you feel to recycle. I know it makes you all warm and fuzzy inside to be using your solar and wind power. But that doesn't do anything to improve the situation. If anything it only makes the problem worse.
Look at the jerks who put the big green recycle bins out on the street. What do they drive? That's right, it's no older than three years. Do you suppose that building their next vehicle takes energy, consumes resources and pollutes the environment? Yeah, no shift. And how often do they drive it? That's right, at least once a day to go jogging in the park. Heaven forbid they should jog to the park and leave that big SUV sit. It just wouldn't be right, not with what they're paying for it. And those payments require money, lots of it. So they have to go to work and produce if for no other reason to make that SUV payment. Notice I haven't even talked about fuels yet?
Got solar? How wonderful for you. It took energy, resources and hazardous materials to produce what you needed to harness those solar rays. Same goes for wind power. If you want to pretend that your gear doesn't contribute to global warming then go ahead. Some of us know better.
If we're going to play your silly game then you have to admit that a reduction in overall consumption is required. Overall. That means not just fuels. It doesn't mean switching one fuel "need" for another. It means that we have to consume less of everything, use just what we need and no more. Across the board. And you're going to have to agree that recycling doesn't count, it still takes energy and resources.
You have to agree to that. Anything else is just the same old worn out lie.
Not that it matters. I still haven't had anyone even make a serious try at convincing me that it's all our fault and nature has nothing to do with it.
