My e-mail to the Pres

Hans's picture

I threw this together while listening to the world's saviour, no NOT J.C. but the purveyor of change, whether necessary or not.  I  also sent this to Sen. Voinovich, Congressman Tiberi and Bill O'reilly. Would have sent to Sen. Brown but couldn't navigate his P.O.S. website.  The term "Sir" is used out of respect for position, not the person.

Sir,

I'm sitting here listening to your speech and Q&A and respectfully, your wrong.

Our problems didn't go from Wall St. to Main st., but exactly the opposite.  When your beloved unions say they won't work without better benefits and higher pay, the corporations accomodated them.  And prices rose.
When states increased taxes on legal, luxury items like cars, tobacco, and alcohol. Prices rose.
When people decided they had to live Hollywood life styles and bought houses and cars they couldn't afford.  Prices rose.
When people burned money on the things they didn't NEED. Prices rose.
When banks were (and continue to be) encouraged to loan to people who can't afford it.  Prices rise.
While our own government manages the country as if we all live in NYC, LA and God help us, Washington, DC; without realizing real America is none of those.  Prices rise.

Everything you say about stimulous is foolish and wrong.  You want more money in the economy so it can continue, "exactly what the country needs" is to understand the difference beteween "NEED" and "WANT" and you're not helping the situation.
$18M to move an office?  Are you kidding me?  Not only is garbage like that short term payment to others, but a long term draw on me.  I'm not interested in supporting such foolishness.  Feeding people who "WANT is a waste of both your and my effort and poor motivation and education to them.  Our people, the American people, need to learn what "NEED" is.  Get rid of the dime store provisions from Asian nations and bring paying jobs back home through incentives for Americans to re-learn and meet thier needs and wants through quality  products produced by us at a reasonable price.

The failures in this country are all due the the people expecting everything without insisting on quality from themselves or thier providers.  Then they're shocked to discover they've wasted their money or been taken in.  You seem to be interested in reinforcing that position.  Value is everything, maybe you don't see that, but we live in a nation of disposable everything instead of a nation where we expect to get what we pay for.  If we only insisted on quality and value instead of dumping money into poor products, our world would be about the next best invention instead of whining about why a latte costs $4.

If you want to fix our economic position, the people in this country need to learn and understand the value of a dollar, like they did in 1932.  You don't get that education by tossing food down the throat of every clown who thinks their stomach may rumble sometime soon.  You get it by forcing ingenuity.  Spend your stimulous money on law enforcement for those without a brain, and put our hope in the fact that of our millions, there are a great many who can improve themselves, their lives, the country and the world if forced to do more than eat our of my wallet.

Finally, everything I've heard from you to this point has been incentive to ask my boss for a pay decrease so I can live off everyone else, and be equal with the main populous, rather than do my best.  So far, pride holds me back, but I would love to hear a real reason to not do so from you.

Please don't waste resources on a meaningless response or some crap about how you hear what I'm saying.  Actions are everything and I'm the one paying for the paper and the individual's time so send it, so just don't.

The value of the dollar?

I love this!  You've captured it wonderfuly.

"...the people in this country need to learn and understand the value of a dollar..."

Me too!  If they're going to give a class on this, sign me the fuck up!  And I mean this, I would even pay college tuition and buy expensive textbooks if the end result will be to finally understand what the real value of today's dollar is.

Just when I think I finally understand it they print more to give to mortgage companies, banks and auto makers.  When I attempt to insert that into my weak understanding they explain that they're going to print more to give to the paving companies and bridge construction outfits.

So it's hard to get a grip on understanding my personal spending responsiblity when I can't get traction on understanding the value of a dollar.  It's as if they don't want us to understad the value, they just want us to spend.  But now I'm sounding like a conspiracy theorist.

Extraordinary!

Extraordinarily well written. Lucid. Correct.

(Correct the word "your" to "you are" or "you're.")

You have stated the thing in a smooth, salient, easily readable manner.

Tokyo Free Press, http://www.tokyofreepress.com/index.php, is saying the same thing but less well.

Jewish World Review, http://www.jewishworldreview.com/, is saying the same thing but less well.

First Edition, http://www.first-edition-online.com/, is saying the same thing but less well.

These hard hitting journals are hitting hard at the illogic of Obama Nation and I hope you will support them (and all of us) by cutting your article into smaller, more publishable pieces and sending them to hard copy newspapers. 250 words is about the right length.

I was once offered the chance to win an election without campaigning and become Shoshone County Commissioner. I could have had the job without understanding it because I was well known.

Since you do have so very much knowledge and expertise, give some thought to becoming a senator. This is not so foolish as it may sound. We have a Montana senator who lives in adulation yet is ditzy and intends to save the environment by encouraging recycling. That's it. Even now he does not understand that senators make and fold laws. He thinks of himself as a promotor of ideas.

I will bet that the people you work for will be willing to help finance your campaign.

dying principles

I agree nearly wholeheartedly in your stance on the failures of the American thought.  There has been a decline in innovations and production in the last fifty years.

The one thing I noticed drastically missing from your letter was the mention of a single state.  We are a supposed nation of independent states that are to work together as a nation.  The nation was never intended to trample the rights of the state.  Injecting federal paper into the economies of individual states was the beginning of the end for our nation.  We are on a path to global rule and I am not enjoying the ride.

Freedom of Expression...quantified

money

I think this is a pretty good estimation, thanks for summing it up. i think more people need to realize this and then maybe we can help things back to normal.
